Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the Supply of a MK1 Kitchen Carriage (RK) that meets Network Rail Standards for Mainline Operation

Vintage Trains Ltd at Tyseley proposes to acquire a refurbished Mk1 kitchen car (RK) that is in a “fit to run condition” fully meeting current Network Rail Standards for mainline operation. We are therefore seeking a contractor provide a vehicle that is compliant with the specification detailed below to perform the works listed in this specification. We require that the successful applicant completes all the listed works in a maximum period of 12 weeks from a mutually agreed start date.

You are invited to submit a firm, fixed lump sum quotation by August 24th 2025 (using Appendix 1 below) for the supply and fitment of equipment, materials, labour, commissioning and testing of the kitchen facilities as specified below. Appendix A shows a floorplan of the vehicle and the location of the appliances/equipment.

Your quotation should also include your labour costs, all specified materials, travelling, subsistence, plant, and consumables. All costs must include VAT and identify any specialists works provided by 3rd parties.  All 3rd party costs are to be itemised separately showing labour from materials clearly detailing the hourly rate.

Your quotation should specify your required payment terms and also propose details of stage payments which may be required and should remain valid for 160 days. Final payment to be made only on final satisfactory commissioning and acceptance of the vehicle. Quotations can be returned by email or by Royal Mail, telephone quotations will not be accepted.

Site visits can be arranged week commencing 4 August and appointments can be booked in on request to Nick Ralls. Appointments outside of this week will be considered if requested.
