Kitchen Refurbishment Opportunity

Vintage Trains is based at Tyseley in East Birmingham; within their estate is a building that has previously been used as a social club and within this building is a food preparation and service area. This facility is now quite old and requires refurbishment to meet current regulations for food preparation and handling. This document asks for a contractor to provide a quotation to provide works compliant to current standards and regulations for the works listed in the attached specification.

Premlinaries

All works, materials and equipment used or provided must meet current regulations pertaining to Standards such as NICIEC, HSE, Food Hygiene, Food Handling and HSE Standards etc.

Appliances & Storage Equipment

Products and equipment can be substituted to alternative compliant equipment that meets the same quality and performance standards and price point (or cheaper) equivalent and that the product complies with current regulations for food hygiene and food storage/preparation.

We have identified a company that can provide the appliances and storage we require that meets our Value for Money requirements and example products are referenced, you can of course use your own favoured supplier if you wish but there should not be a price differential of more than 5% .We expect appliances to be supplied to invoice at cost with VAT and any delivery added on and also priced to include any installation costs appropriate to that piece of equipment.

Where possible works should be delivered using existing wall openings and pipework runs to avoid additional coring or cutting of outer wall.

You are invited to submit a firm, fixed lump sum quotation by May 5th 2026 (using the form at Appendix 1 below) for the supply and fitment of equipment, materials, labour, commissioning and testing of the kitchen facilities as specified below.

This is a competitive tender exercise you quote will be compared with quotations from other contractors, selection decisions will be made upon price, quality and adherence to specification so we can compare on a “like for like” basis. If you have alternative proposals these may be considered especially if they provide better value for money.

We will agree a mutually acceptable date for the works to commence which will not be earlier than 26 May 2026 and be no later than the end of Q2 2026.

Your quotation should also include your labour costs, supervision, materials, travelling, subsistence, plant, and consumables. All costs must include VAT and identify any specialists works provided by 3rd parties.

Your quotation should specify your required payment terms and any details of stage payments which may be required and should remain valid for 120 days. Final payment to be made only on final satisfactory commissioning and acceptance.

Site visits can be arranged at any time between 22 April January and 1 May 2026.
