THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride leaves Birmingham Moor Street station and takes place on board heritage carriages hauled on the return journey by a real steam engine. The performance offers the magic and charm of the 2004 motion picture.

The prices are for a seat on the train ride and are the same for adults and children. Children 3 and under can travel for free if they do not occupy a seat but you must add an infant to your booking. Only one child aged 3 and under can travel for every 2 adults booked.

Tourist class carriages have seats arranged around tables of four. Pullman class carriages have more luxurious seating arranged around tables of two or four. All passengers enjoy the same performance and will each receive a hot chocolate drink and cookie. There are dancing chefs and other actors in each carriage for the whole performance and everyone will meet the conductor and Santa and receive a ‘silver bell.

The finalised train ride times will be provided by email with your seat reservations 2-5 days before your train ride. You should arrive at Birmingham Moor Street as close as possible to your train ride time but please allow sufficient time for traffic and car parking, and at least an additional 30 minutes if you are arriving by national network train.

The beginning of the performance starts at Moor Street Station in the glass cube and the rest takes place on the train. You should allow 2 hours for the whole experience. After the performance you will have an opportunity to take selfies with some of the performance cast in front of the steam engine.

Yes. We take you on an express train ride to see Santa! Our train will run at between 45-60 mph to the “North Pole” and back!

Birmingham Moor Street station does not have a dedicated car park but is easily accessible from the Selfridges & Bull Ring public car parks. During the holiday periods, these usually remain open until 11:00pm but please check locally. Please be aware that during the holiday period, these car parks and traffic around them gets extremely busy and additional time should be allowed so you do not miss your performance.

No. All seats are reserved on each train ride.

We want our services to be accessible to all and are happy to provide additional assistance where it is needed, and we are able to. However, we operate vintage rolling stock and in many cases are unable to accommodate passengers with serious disabilities or mobility problems. We cannot convey wheelchairs on any of these train. You should note any requirements on your booking form in the space provided or email us at bookings@vintagetrains.co.uk to discuss arrangements.

Children 3 and under can travel for free if they do not occupy a seat but you must notify us when booking. Only one child 3 and under is permitted to travel with 2 adults.

Seating is arranged in in twos or fours around a table on either side of the aisle in Pullman class and seats of four in Tourist class. We are unable to accommodate bookings in any other configuration due to the seating layout. If you have a party of more than four, we will endeavour to reserve you seats at adjacent tables. We do our best to seat people together, but this may not always be possible, depending on demand. Please email us at bookings@vintagetrains.co.uk if you wish to discuss this further.

Yes. We will email you 2-5 days before your train ride to let you know which carriage and which seats, we have reserved for you.

Certain severe allergies (including nut) cannot be accommodated. If you or any of your party has an allergy please let us know in advance. We are only able to offer gluten-free cookie alternatives or a dairy-free (soya only) hot chocolate alternative. When at the checkout please enter the information into the ‘Additional Information’ box. We cannot provide alternatives on the day unless you have pre-ordered them in this way. Our Pullman carriages are configured in seats of 2 or 4 and our Tourist carriages seats are on a table for 4. We wish to keep families together and not split them up or seat you with strangers. We suggest bringing friends or buddying up with another family. If you contact the office, they should be able to add your request to the buddying waiting list.

Yes, up to 3-year-olds can be seated on a parent’s knee and they will of course receive a hot chocolate, cookie, and bell from Santa too.
