Our first diesel hauled express of 2026, The Welsh Chieftain, will see our Class 37 37240 double-heading with 37418 over the scenic Heart of Wales line, with the return over the famed Welsh Marches.
The Heart of Wales route is a spectacular 121 mile between Shrewsbury and Swansea via the rural uplands of Carmarthenshire, Powys and Shropshire, giving diesel enthusiasts the perfect opportunity to experience the thrash and growl of a Class 37 over this route but also from Vintage Trains’ carriages all with opening windows!
