Friday 17th and Saturday 18th June 2022

On Friday Duchess of Sutherland will depart from Tyseley Locomotive Works, running up the Midland Main Line through Burton, Derby and Chesterfield and joining the East Coast Main Line to York. We will arrive around lunchtime and passengers will have the afternoon and evening to explore the city.

On Saturday we rejoin the train where Duchess of Sutherland will join us for a run up the East Coast Main Line to the City of Newcastle. After time to explore the City, Duchess of Sutherland will return the train steam hauled all the way to Tyseley.

Passengers will make their own arrangements for accommodation in York overnight.

Joining arrangements

Tyseley Locomotive Works, Coleshill Parkway, Tamworth High Level, Burton on Trent, Derby. The return journey will drop-off at all outward stations.

Seating Arrangements

Seating is available in our Pullman Cars and Open Coaches. You will be seated at tables of two or four or in a Private Compartment in your selected Coach according to your booking. Tables for two can be booked in Pullman Class for a supplement of £30 per person subject to availability.

Bookings for up to four people will be seated at the same table. Bookings of more than four people will be seated at adjacent tables.

First Class Compartments for six people are also available.

Boarding Card

A boarding card confirming your booking details and allocated coach will be emailed to you upon completion of your booking. Please print this boarding card to access the train. Separate tickets are not issued.

Final Details and Timings

Final times will be published on this website 7-10 days before the date of the train.

Club Class

  • Seating at tables for four in our Club Class Coaches with light refreshments including Danish pastries, Bacon Roll (Friday), sandwiches and cake (Saturday), tea & Coffee, all served at your seat.
